Greatham Creek
A community of fishermen’s cabins and houseboats in the estuary of the River Tees, photographed in 1975.
The Greatham Creek community, which dated back to the early C20th, fell into decline largely as a result of pollution in the Tees Estuary during the Second World War. It has gone now. In the early 1980s Side Gallery commissioned Macdonald to develop a wider documentation of the Tees Estuary.
