Let Go
The North Shields fishing industry documented in the late 80s in a project linked to Amber’s making of the feature drama In Fading Light.
Fryer went out on three fishing trips with the Bennisan, a 60 foot anchor boat, skippered by Trevor Potter and his crew, Davy, Taffy and Andy (Norman!). Both the film and this exhibition came out of Amber’s 5 year residency in North Shields, which also delivered the films and videos The Privatisation Tapes, Shields Stories, Dream On and The Writing in the Sand; Peter Fryer’s Smith’s Dock, Steve Conlan’s Meadow Well: An English Estate and Richard Grassick’s Look Me in the Eye.
