The Art of Shipbuilding (2017)

The poetry, paintings, work and community of shipbuilding captured in a photofilm growing out of the late Jack Davitt’s poetry and the paintings of his friend Peter Burns. The film brings together Bruce Rae’s 1980s photographs with Sirkka-Liisa Konttinen’s photographs and Amber’s films from the 1970s. It was made for Side Gallery’s major revisiting of Bruce Rae’s 1983 exhibition Shipbuilding on the Tyne.
